Floating frame on a canvas

Those paintings that are currently for sale can be found with descriptions in the Galleries section.

Work is generally sold framed. To find the price and details of a painting please contact me. VAT is not applicable at this time.

Framing is a tricky business and I have therefore tended to frame my works in painted or limed mouldings finished to a neutral off-white colour. A couple of photographs illustrate the general style. All the frames are hand made and hand finished and supplied with appropriate D-rings and cord for hanging.

Oil paintings and acrylics are easy to package and transport and I can easily give you a quotation for the cost of such a service.

Prints are also easy to dispatch by mail or courier and are priced as unframed and unmounted. Again, the prices shown do not include delivery.

Frame with slip for oils or pastel paintings
My pastel paintings are all framed with painted off-white slips (necessary to keep the pastel surface clear of the glass). My technique involves fixing the work after the pastel has been applied. The main reason for this is artistic in that I often want the underpainting to show through and I certainly want to emphasise the texture of the gesso ground that I use to prepare the hardboard carrier. However, there is a further benefit to fixing because it produces a surface that is generally fairly stable and does not carry loose particles of pastel. That said, the works are glazed and this, together with the more general delicate nature of pastels means that delivery by courier or mail is not really a good option. If you are interested in the purchase of a pastel painting then please contact me to see how delivery might best be arranged.

Purchases can be arranged through direct bank transfer, PayPal or cheque. Paintings will be dispatched upon receipt of full payment.

Please contact me to make further arrangements if you wish to purchase a work.

Commissions

I can undertake commissions by special arrangement.

Portrait commissions are by negotiation. Prices commence at £600 for a head and shoulders pose.

I usually need a minimum of two sittings. More are better but the demands on a client's time often makes this difficult. With two sittings I am happy to work from reference photographs that I will take as part of the process. Travel and other ancillary costs will normally be added to the cost of the commission.
